About Marina Lim
Personal Journey
Marina has always had a deep passion for working with children, and her expertise in Special Education was further shaped by her personal experience as a parent of a child with autism. Seeking to better understand and support her son, she pursued specialised training in Special Education and Play Therapy. This experience deepened her commitment to supporting special needs children and their families, providing guidance to help them navigate their unique challenges effectively.
Marina emphasises the role of parental involvement in therapy. She works closely with parents to enhance their understanding of their child's struggles and provides guidance on effective support strategies, ensuring a cohesive and non-judgemental approach to overcoming difficulties.
Through Play therapy, Marina helps individuals reflect on their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, promoting self-awareness, responsibility and respect for boundaries.
This process strengthened the client and his/her family with confidence and resilience, equipping them with strategies to manage future challenges effectively and hopefully creatively.
Marina's Experience
With over 20 years of experience in the education sector, Marina has in-depth knowledge of the local education system. She was involved in developing the Lower Primary Chinese Curriculum and collaborated with educational leaders on research projects and presentations. She has conducted sharing sessions at the zonal and national levels, working with teachers, heads of departments, principals, counsellors, and allied educators.
Her extensive experience provides insight into the academic and social pressures that affect children and young people, allowing her to integrate effective strategies in her therapeutic work.
